Hold My Hand

by Paige Volovnik

Hold my hand

When we’re together physically

But apart mentally.

Hold my hand

When we’re angry at each other

But not enough for us to stop joking.

Hold my hand

When we’re both scared

But neither of us want to show it.

Hold my hand

When we can’t stand to look at each other

But still need to know that the other’s there.

Hold my hand

For the rest of my life. Or the rest of yours.

But never stop

Holding my hand.

And I will never stop

Holding yours.
