Road Trip to My Backyard

by Jordan Mcghee

A blazing sun doing its darndest to condemn me and my Dora crocs.

Melding my dogs to the concrete.

Teeth and bones in a yellow sandbox.

A sandbox calling its sandman

Put i to sleep

For imma get up

In 3rd grade i had an awakening because I didn’t know how to think

Still a cookie crumble made fun of my hunger it was the darndest thing

Howdy stranger

Stranger no you saw me while you beat and threw that sparrow in a cage with a name

engraved.

Damn

Where's my boots and cattle I rose with a ticket to the skies buried in my back pocket.

Oh great heavens

Aren’t you a sweetheart

Damn,

I guess so

Should i buckle down and thank you for a name made out of tulips and tobacco

Hell no I'm up now.
