Shower Thoughts

by Dannica Mitchell

I lie flat on the bathtub floor,

steaming hot water raining down on me.

I feel nothing.

My mind is filled with anxious thoughts,

a cold, dark place.

How did I get here?

A normal girl suddenly turned anxious.

That’s the thing about life.

One minute you’re flying,

the next you’re falling.

A misfortunate event.

The devil on my shoulder,

wants me to fail.

My sweet angel,

tells me to fight.

A mind war.

The water is getting cold now,

I can’t get out.

Perhaps I’ll lie here a bit longer,

Thinking of a plan to win my war.

How will I overcome my illness?

A shower thought.
